Four Days of Chess

The 26th National Age Grp Chess Championships 2008 came to a close on wednesday, the 12th of December 2007. Well, that's not a typo...the national age grp for 2008 was brought forward to this December this year. It was four intense days of chess and indeed it was tiring. Some had the joy of winning a trophy to make up for the fatigue while others didn't have that luxury. Although i wasn't expecting to win anything, i of course was part of those who didn't win anything. Empty handed we left after the tournament, but in fact that's just on the surface. I think it was a good thing i took part in the tournament, it allowed me the opportunity to be out of the house, to be occupied and it added some excitement to my already boring holidae. Not that my holiday was bad and really boring, it just is very much more exciting to play in a chess tournament. I think to many people who are not involved with the chess scene...chess seems really really BORING...and even though yea its a tournament, it still isn't exciting. However, once one really gets involved and learn to play it, it really is quite fun even if at times it's just the triuphant feeling one enjoys and not the extensive calculations and foresight. It really isn't wat many people think as a game just for nerds or for intellectuals. In fact, i would say calling chess a game may even be an understatement.
Anw, enough about that, other things worth mentioning....i saw an ACS(I) guy who i believe was part of the cast of HAVEN, was working at the IntChess. And, yea almost forgot, i got 4pts out 8 games...which doesn't appear good but actually isn't all that good. Notheless, its still good just that it was b'cos of my pairing that i played only the higher ranked players and the lower ranked players which makes it difficult to say if i played well coz i only managed to draw with one opponent higher ranked than me. Next, credit was given to my siblings...especially my bro who did well in the World Youth Chess Championships at 9th in the world!...although he didn't win this tournament. Finally, the tournament was a fun experience with only some problems i encountered with logistics...(don't bother if u don't understand this bit), but it still was a gd thing...this whole tournament. And, its fueled a bit more passion for the game of chess...though it isn't my favourite thing in the world....trust me i'm not the chess crazy sort!!!

The tournament was the reason i couldn't start my promise for a daily blogging routine...but now that its over, i'll be doing just wat i said i would. yup...tts all.
